Ways to green your holiday...

We celebrate Christmas here at the weeBgreen household and I've been searching for ways to have a greener holiday this year. Some of the things we did this year are:
  • upcycled our childs artwork as wrapping paper for cousins and other young children
  • recycled last years holiday cards into some gift tags
  • reused gift bags from last year that were in good gift-giving shape
  • used our Send Out Cards account to schedule and send recyclable holiday cards with our childs photo embedded right on the card
  • shopped online with Etsy and other area retailers (75% of our holiday shopping was done via Etsy)
  • reused shipping boxes as gift boxes and boxes to transport gifts for our trip to visit family
What did you do this year to have a greener holiday? Every little bit counts!

Green cleaning products to check out

If you're like me, you'd rather use a cleaning product that is less toxic and safer for use in a home with small children. I honestly don't use earth-friendlier cleaners all the time, but I try to as much as possible. And I've contemplated making my own as well...I just need to find the time!

Here is a list of greener cleaning products with the location in which they are manufactured, so you have the option to support a local or regional provider if you decide to:

  • Sun & Earth -- produced in King of Prussia PA, this earth-friendlier choice offers hand, dish, and laundry soap, as well as, all purpose cleaner, fabric softener, and window cleaner. Sun & Earth products can be found at their website (link above) and at these retailers.
  • Simple Green -- with world headquarters in California, Simple Green offers an array of non-toxic cleaning supplies for the home or office. You can find Simple Green here on the Where to Buy list.
  • seventh GENERATION -- produces household cleaners, baby products, household paper and supplies and more. They are headquartered in Vermont. Find local retailers here or shop online.
  • GAIAM -- a full range of earth friendlier products for the home, GAIAM offers cleaning products as well. Their corporate headquarters is in Colorado with a distribution center in Ohio.
  • Seaside Naturals -- located in Connecticut, this company offers multi-purpose cleaners, natural cleaning products, air fresheners and more.
If you have other earth and home friendlier cleaning products you use, share them with us! We'd love to hear what others are using.

Greenfest Philly

Over the last month or so we've been so busy; busy enough to neglect our blog and share fun green news, products and information for the Philadelphia area and beyond. We're working on getting back into the swing of things, adding more products to our boutique, and gathering up one-of-a-kind products for a mom-to-be show coming up soon...but first have one last vacation before fall truly begins.

We did have the opportunity to head over to 2nd and South in Philadelphia on Sunday for the Philly Greenfest. Check out the who, what, when, where, and why here. It was a great event jam-packed with great vendors, music and reminders of how we can all do our part.

Catchya in about a week or so!
